It all started several years before the company’s founder was born; Mr. Pence’s grandpa Levi Pfister bought a stump grinder in 1966 shortly after moving back to his hometown of Fort Wayne Indiana, from Gibbon Minnesota. He told Jason that when he saw the chips flying from a Vermeer stump grinder in Minnesota, he knew what he was going to do once he got back to Indiana.

In the Fort Wayne Indiana area, Jason Pence has experience dating back to 1981, when he starting helping his grandpa Levi Pfister with his stump grinding business. Jason Pence’s grandfather Levi Pfister was a Bee-Keeper, Farmer, and had a part time tree service in the Fort Wayne and Auburn Indiana area based in Leo Indiana from 1966 to 1988. In 1988 while Jason Pence was in his last summer break at Leo Junior-Senior High School, his grandpa decided to develop to a full time tree removal and trimming service; Jason’s Grandpa was 80 years old, but was determined to start an expanded tree service business venture. Jason continued to help Levi several years and gained more experience in cutting trees as a full time employee.

After Jason’s uncles took over his grandpa’s tree service business, Jason Pence Tree Service was started in February 1992. The company grew from a one man operation to several crews over the years. Our tree service can handle larger municipal tree cutting contracts, commercial tree clearing jobs and any type of residential arbor maintenance need.
